PROJECT INFORMATION
Jetblack Plumbers was engaged to deliver comprehensive stormwater rectification works to improve drainage and airflow across a cluster of demountable classroom buildings. The aim of the project was to resolve existing water runoff issues, upgrade guttering systems, and improve underfloor ventilation, ensuring a safer and more functional learning environment.

SCOPE OF WORKS
- Site-wide risk assessment prior to commencement.
- Modification of roof sheeting to ensure effective stormwater discharge.
- Installation of 100m of 115mm zinc quad guttering with 100 external brackets.
- Installation of 10 new 90mm downpipes discharging to existing stormwater pits.
- Installation of 300m of 100mm PVC pipework to service all classroom downpipes.
- Cutting and reinstatement of bitumen walkways to access stormwater infrastructure.
- Replacement of existing weatherproof boards and installation of 300m² of galvanised mesh skirting to enhance subfloor ventilation.
- Site clean-up and reinstatement upon completion.
CHALLENGES
This project required precise coordination to deliver works with minimal disruption to school operations and student safety. Several challenges included:
- Working around existing demountable infrastructure with limited access.
- Excavating and trenching through bitumen surfaces while preserving nearby services.
- Maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards in an active school setting.

OUR SOLUTION
Jetblack Plumbers developed a clear plan and timeline for staged delivery of the stormwater rectification works. The team began with a full site risk assessment and worked closely with school representatives to schedule access and maintain safe work zones.
The crew used high-quality zinc quad guttering and PVC stormwater pipework to improve capacity and flow efficiency. To mitigate future moisture issues, we installed ventilated mesh skirting beneath each demountable—enhancing airflow and reducing the risk of long-term subfloor damage.
Every element of the stormwater system was designed to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure, ensuring long-term performance and compliance.

THE RESULTS
Jetblack Plumbers successfully delivered the stormwater upgrade project on time and to a high standard, leaving the site cleaner and better functioning than when we arrived.
Project outcomes:
- Improved stormwater capacity across all demountables.
- Enhanced underfloor ventilation through the addition of 300m² of galvanised mesh.
- Safe reinstatement of bitumen surfaces post-trenching.
- Zero safety incidents and minimal disruption to school operations.
