SCOPE OF WORKS
- Pump Out and Disposal: The initial phase involved the pumping out of the existing collection well septic, followed by the safe disposal of the contents in accordance with Environmental and Public Health requirements.
- Demolition and Removal: The existing bitumen roadway around the junction was cut and removed, followed by the demolition and disposal of the existing collection well septic tank and associated equipment. This stage included comprehensive post-work backfill, compaction, and soil top dressing.
- Excavation and Pipe Laying: A trench was excavated to house the new UPVC sewerage pipes, which were supplied and laid in accordance with AS 1260, including solvent cement fittings stamped and branded as conforming to Australian Standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: All works were conducted in strict adherence to Sydney Water regulatory requirements, incorporating all relevant inspections and applications to ensure compliance.
- Trench Filling and Compaction: The trench was backfilled with selected materials to ensure proper compaction and minimise subsidence. The surface was then topped with turf to ensure a seamless integration with the surrounding area.
- Roadway and Fencing Reinstatement: The bitumen roadway was reinstated as required, and existing fencing panels were carefully removed, stored, and refitted upon completion of the sewer works.
- Site Cleaning and Re-establishment: The final phase involved thorough site cleaning and the re-establishment of the area to its original state, ensuring no disruption to the local depot’s operations.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
- Compliance with Standards: Successfully adhered to all environmental, health, and Sydney Water regulatory requirements, ensuring a project outcome that met the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Efficiency in Execution: The project was completed within the stipulated timeframe, minimizing disruption to the depot’s operations and ensuring a quick return to normalcy.
- Infrastructure Enhancement: The new sewer connection significantly improved the depot’s waste management system, contributing to the overall efficiency and sustainability of the facility.
- Community and Environmental Benefit: By ensuring proper waste disposal and sewerage system functionality, the project served the dual purpose of enhancing local infrastructure and protecting public health and the environment.
