HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
OUR PURPOSE PROJECTS
As a Pro Purpose partner, our Purpose Pledge helps support disadvantaged communities in Australia and around the world.EMPOWERING FUTURES
Our 'First Nations Youth' initiative addresses the pressing issue of disadvantage and vulnerability hindering the full potential of Australian First Nations children and youth. Tailored for those aged 10-20, the program operates in schools, fostering stronger connections to culture and developing leadership and life skills. In urban areas, where First Nations youth face overrepresentation in indicators of vulnerability, they are empowered to break negative generational cycles.
Alarming statistics highlight the urgency of our mission, including over half of First Nations youth in detention and more than one-third not completing Year 12. Recognising the importance of cultural identity, our objective is to provide access to culturally strong education, enabling real and lasting change.
CULTURALLY SENSITIVE HEALING
Our 'First Nations Domestic Violence Workshops' initiative offers hope, healing, and a healthy future for First Nations women, addressing the pervasive issue of domestic violence in Australia's Indigenous communities. With Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women facing alarming statistics—35 times more likely to be hospitalized due to family violence and higher risks of homicide—Pro Purpose takes a proactive approach.
Focusing on 'healing journey' workshops, our project educates and equips women who have experienced domestic violence, aiming to break the cycle by providing knowledge and tools to prevent future occurrences.
TRANSFORMING LIVES, ONE COMMUNITY AT A TIME
Our 'Child Sponsorship' project is a beacon of hope, not just for individual children but for entire communities. Poverty claims the lives of six million children before their fifth birthday, making child sponsorship a crucial tool to break the poverty cycle. This initiative not only benefits sponsored children but also extends to their communities, with every sponsored child impacting an additional four individuals.
Focusing on community-centric solutions, child sponsorship addresses the fundamental barriers to children's survival and prosperity, including clean water, healthcare, education, and improved farming. Alarming statistics, such as the child poverty rate of 34.6% in Uganda, underscore the urgency of our mission.
PROVIDING ACCESS TO CLEAN DRINKING WATER
Our ‘Water Well Repairs’ project is located in Northern Uganda, which aims to restore access to clean water by repairing broken boreholes. This initiative is crucial as many communities in Northern Uganda face challenges due to broken water wells, forcing women and children to walk long distances multiple times a day to collect water, often from contaminated sources.
By repairing these boreholes, communities will have access to safe and clean water for drinking, hygiene, and sanitation. This project not only improves health and reduces poverty but also empowers women and children by freeing up time for education and other productive activities. Platinum is committed to helping communities in Northern Uganda access clean drinking water and transform their lives.
